The ECMs may need special features beyond that of a conventional ECM. Also, because there is less demand for cars with bigger engines, there are fewer ECMs for bigger engines on the market.

For example, a replacement computer for a Cummins Diesel 5.7 liter diesel will cost 3-4x more than a new computer for a V6 Ford Mustang or base model Dodge Neon.

Chrysler ECMs

The average price for a Chrysler ECM is around $260-$300. That includes SUVs, sedans and minivans. If you happen to drive a Chrysler with a turbocharged engine or a high-performance SRT, the price is substantially higher:

The average price for a 300 SRT ECM is $500 and a turbocharged PT Cruiser ranges from $470 all the way up to $900.

Most ECMs for Chrysler SUVs and minivans are in the same price range. The Aspen SUV, Pacifica and Town and Country minivans all have an average price of $260-$330. Like the SUVs and minivans, ECMs for Chrysler sedans also share the same $260-$300 price range. That includes ECMS for Sebring, Cirrus, Concorde and LHS.

ECMs for SRT model Chrysler sedans cost $500 on average.

Dodge ECMs

All ECMs for Dodge sedans, including the Avenger, Intrepid and Neon, have an average price of $260. ECMs for Dodge SUVs, including the Caliber, Journey and Nitro, are slightly higher at $300 on average.

Dodge sports cars Challenger, Charger and Magnum, demand a lightly higher price tag, with ECMs costing around $340. For Dodge trucks, ECMs for the diesel-engine Ram are the most expensive at a whopping $800-$1200.

ECMs for Rams with V10 engine are a steal with an average price of only $700. If your Ram has a V6 gasoline engine, expect to pay $300-$500.

Jeep ECMs

ECMs for the Jeep Cherokee, Grand Cherokee (in-line 6 engine), Commander and Liberty all have an average price of $260. The average price for a Jeep Wrangler ECM is $500. Wranglers are often used for off-roading and require better powertrain control than conventional vehicles.

For Grand Cherokees with a 5.7L or 6.1L V8 engine, the average ECM price goes up to $640.

Mercedes ECMs

ECMs for most Mercedes vehicles lie within the same price range: C, CL, CLK, E, G, ML, R, S, SL and SLK class vehicles all cost between $550-$900. In general, as engine size increases, so does the ECM price, but not always.

For example, a C230 (2.3L) ECM has an average price of $550, where a C350 (3.5L) has an average price of $900. Conversely, an SLK280 (2.8L) ECM is $900 where an SLK340 (3.4L) is only $700.

Plymouth ECMs

We carry over 40 different ECMs for Plymouth Breeze, Laser, Neon and Voyager minivan—all with an average price of $260. Price doesn’t vary at all with model year or engine type and we have ECMs dating all the way back to 1996.

Ford ECMs

Most ECMs for Ford vehicles start at around $260. That includes all sedans, trucks, SUVs, vans and of course, the Mustang.

ECMs for the Mustang range from $260 all the way up to $1000 for the 4.6L GT, but most ECMs fall within the $400-$600 price range. ECMs for SUVs like the Ford Escape fall in the $260-$400 price range. ECMs for mid-size and full-size sedans like the Fusion and Crown Victoria also fall within the same price range.

ECMs for the Ford Econoline usually cost between $300 and $700, mostly due to all the different powertrain options available.

Lincoln ECMs

Most ECMs for Lincoln vehicles fall into the $250-$500 price range. That same price range is consistent across all models of SUVs, crossovers, and mid-size and full-size sedans.

The only ECMs priced over $500 are mostly for Lincoln vehicles with engines exceeding 3.0L of displacement. For example, an ECM for the 3.9L Lincoln LS costs $750 and an ECM for the 4.6L Town Car costs $600.

Mercury ECMs

ECMs for the Cougar coupe and sedans Milan, Montego and Grand Marquis are all priced at $260-$400. ECMs costing more than $400 are reserved for the Mercury Mariner SUV with a price range of $400-$600.

The most expensive Mercury ECMs are made for the Marauder and its V8 engine; they cost between $500 and $650.

Lexus ECMs

We carry ECMs for both the Lexus ES300 and LS400.

Our ECMs for the ES300 sedan cost $380 on average and we have them in stock for model years 1990 to 1997. We have ECMs for the LS400 sedan priced at $500 and have them in stock for model years 1993 and 1994.

Toyota ECMs

We carry ECMs for both the Toyota Camry and RAV4. ECMs for the Toyota Camry cost $260 with zero difference in price for engine size or model year. We carry them for model years 1990 to 1997. ECMs for RAV4 range from $260 to $400 and we have them in stock for model years 2000 to 2003.

Quick Answer Engine control modules typically cost $200–$400 for remanufactured units and $400–$2,200+ for brand-new OEM units.
