Sometimes you watch older car commercials and wonder why today’s aren’t as interesting as they were. Take this commercial for the “50 New Ways” Ford vehicles for 1950. Granted, the special effects are slightly below the CGI standards of the 21st century, but at least you don’t see the tape used to show the convertible flying through the air.<\/p>\n
Though you may chuckle at the ad, it bears significance in the history of automobiles. The convertible shown in the commercial is streamlined, almost compact for that decade. It can be considered at transition vehicle between the heavy, rounded-top vehicles to the boxier and finned versions that signified the decade.<\/p>\n
