Should I choose a programmed (cloned) or virginized ECM?
Mercedes ECMs are VIN-locked. Unlike many GM ECMs that we can pre-program from a VIN alone, Mercedes typically requires bench programming or a virgin reset. Choose the option that fits how you (or your shop) will install it.
Programmed (Cloned)
Programmed to your VIN, plug and play. No dealer visit.

Programmed (Cloned) copies everything from your original ECM (VIN, immobilizer/SSID, key hashes, software, and coding including SCN where applicable) onto the reman unit so it's plug-and-play — original keys work, no dealer tools needed.
Virginization unlocks / resets the module to a factory virgin state. It then needs to be programmed like a brand-new dealer part (flash, code, personalize, activate) with Star / Xentry. Not plug-and-play.

That's true when using dealer tools alone. We use direct, hardware-level bench procedures to program your data onto a compatible reman ECM, or to virginize a module so a shop with Xentry can program it the normal Mercedes way.
No. Not all modules can be unlocked / virginized. If we determine yours cannot, we'll contact you before proceeding and discuss options (typically programming (cloning) instead).
Yes. Programming transfers key hashes and immobilizer data, so your existing keys continue to work with no key relearn required.
Programmed (Cloned): Once your original ECM arrives at our Raleigh, NC facility, most units are completed within 1–4 business days, then shipped back.
