2006 Ford Fusion 3.0L PCM, Matched to VIN Engine Code 1
This is a refurbished engine computer for the 2006 Fusion built with the 3.0L V6, the version Ford marks with a 1 in the eighth position of the VIN. It also goes by ECM, ECU, engine computer and engine control module, all names for this one powertrain control module.
After checkout we ask for your VIN, program the PCM to it, run our 13-point quality check on lab equipment that emulates the car's engine, and ship it. A self-addressed envelope travels in the same box for sending the old computer back as the core.
Is Your Fusion the 3.0L V6 or the 2.3L Four-Cylinder? Check the VIN
The eighth character of the VIN tells you the engine. Ford uses 1 for the 3.0L V6, which this listing fits, and Z for the 2.3L four-cylinder. A Fusion with a Z in that spot needs our separate 2006 Ford Fusion 2.3L PCM. Order by the VIN code, not the model name.
Ford stamps the VIN on a metal tab at the top upper left of the dash and repeats it on the vehicle certification label. The transmission is a second clue: the 3.0L V6 was paired with a six-speed Aisin automatic, while the 2.3L came with a five-speed manual or a five-speed automatic.
Other model years sit on our Ford Fusion PCM page.
Match the Label on Your Old PCM
This listing is catalogued under 10 Ford part numbers in two families:
- 6E5A-12A650: suffixes ACA, ACB, ACC, ACD, ACE, ACF and AKA
- 6U7A-12A650: suffixes BJA, BJB and BJC
Read both the prefix and the suffix on the sticker of your old PCM. A catalogue match is evidence you are on the right listing, not a certified interchange, and a label outside these 10, such as 6E5A-12A650-AFA, is a reason to call us with the label and your VIN before you order.
This listing is the engine computer only. On the 2006 Fusion 3.0L, Ford handles shift timing and line pressure in a separate transmission control module.
What to Expect at Installation
On this car the anti-theft system (PATS) is run by the instrument cluster, which stores the code for every programmed ignition key, validates the key and sends the PCM an enable message before the engine will start.
Ford's service information calls for a parameter reset of the PCM and the cluster whenever a new PCM goes in, so the two are paired to each other again. It runs on a diagnostic tool, and Ford's steps say not to erase the ignition key codes, so it is a reset rather than a new set of keys. Without it, Ford warns the Fusion may not start, and the PCM stores code P1260 whenever anti-theft disables the car.
That is Ford's procedure for the vehicle. It does not tell you which of those steps we have already completed on the unit we ship, which arrives programmed to your VIN and tested. Call us with the VIN before you order, ask what this listing needs at installation, and check with us before a shop does security work on the car.
Buying Paths for a Failed 2006 Fusion 3.0L Engine Computer
Every path starts with proof that the PCM is really at fault. Our guide to what a P0606 code means explains why a processor code alone does not name the part to order.
Reflash the original PCM. Some Ford bulletins for this car fix the complaint by reprogramming the existing PCM to the latest calibration. When your build date and codes match one, no new hardware is needed.
Order this refurbished PCM. It is programmed to your VIN and tested before shipping. Send your old PCM back in good rebuildable condition within 21 days and the lifetime warranty is active: parts only, up to 2 replacement units for as long as you own the Fusion. A core that ships late can leave the part without coverage, unless a core charge was applied at purchase. Full conditions are on the warranty page. The warranty excludes reprogramming by another source, so confirm our installation and PATS instructions before arranging any additional programming.
Repair, new or used. Car Computer Exchange does not list a repair service for the 2006 Fusion and does not sell new or used modules. A secondhand unit was programmed for another car's VIN and settings.

Every unit is programmed & tested in our facility in Cary NC
CarComputerExchange fully rebuilds and tests ALL computers. We are the ONLY seller that runs each computer through a computer aided vehicle simulator that tests every circuit in the module. Other companies run limited tests.
Most companies run limited tests. Some online stores simply repaint old units and sell without testing. Don't fall for the CHEAPER option.
Our testing & rebuilding process starts with a deep visual evaluation of the circuit board and all the electronic components. From water or acid corrosion, to fire or burn damage, we pay attention to every detail. We also scan the ECU memory or CPU to make sure that it is working properly.
We then test the ECU's with our proprietary electronic lab equipment on our bench, which emulates the car's engine to ensure accuracy in every diagnosis.
