If you’re smart enough to work on your vehicle, take things one step further and discover how to make a little extra cash. There’s money in those worn and rusty parts you’ve been throwing away. Brakes, wheel bearding, and AC compressors etc., are all made of metal, and carry a cash value. Take it to the scrap yard where they’re happy to put a little cash in your pocket. Everybody is into recycling these days, and for good reason.

Old batteries can also make you some extra cash. Before you take your items to the scrap metal yard, take time weight everything. A bathroom scale will do. Also, make sure you write down the different types of metals you’re scrapping on a piece of paper, like iron, steel, copper, or aluminum. You can also recycle your old oil. Get to know your scrapyard so that you can feel comfortable that you’re not being ripped off.
