There’s still a lot of controversy surrounding self-driving cars. The truth is there are still a number of bugs that need to be ironed out. Self-driving cars have run over journalists, have crashed on roads, gotten stuck in reverse, and been hacked into. It’s technology that’s too up close and personal. Who’s to say that some agency or group won’t program these vehicles to actively spy on people in ways never imagined. Everything that a person says or does in such a vehicle can be collected as Big Data.
Where you drive, how long it takes you to get to work, if you smoke etc., is data that can be collected to determine health insurance or driver insurance rates. And that’s just the tip of the iceberg. Who’s to say when some unknown entity is listening in on your private conversations? Like millions of other people, it’s your call. Is it a good thing, or a bad thing?
