Lincoln-Mercury’s pioneering theme for its 1969 car commercials was not only portrayed through the backdrop of the American West. This video features a classic 1969 Lincoln-Mercury Marquis car commercial that focuses on the pioneering spirit and success found in the big city.
The Lincoln-Mercury wanted the Marquis to be considered a medium-priced, luxury “town car” even across several designs that included a four-door model, a convertible and a station wagon.
The video begins with an aerial view of the Empire State Building followed by the camera pulling back across the city and then moving to a street view that focuses on the incredible height of the skyscrapers.
The camera then swiftly pulls outside of the city to show the huge “Lincoln Mercury Leads The Way” sign, that appeared in several commercials that year, floating above the water.
