Wile E. Coyote and The Roadrunner have been popular Looney Tunes characters since their first appearance in 1949. Two decades later, in 1969, Plymouth banked on their popularity in its advertising.
This video features a classic 1969 Plymouth television commercial in which The Coyote and The Roadrunner are up to their old shenanigans.
In a mix of animation and live imagery, the commercial shows The Roadrunner speeding across the desert as the narrator starts talking about “The Great! Plymouth Sale.” The Roadrunner arrives at a Plymouth dealership to check out the cars, but The Coyote is there trying to capture him.
The Roadrunner, of course, can more than handle Wile E. Coyote while he checks out “special savings” for the “specially equipped” Plymouth Fury, Plymouth Valiant, Plymouth Barracuda and Plymouth Belvedere.
