A lot of used cars will be sold in 2016. As such, prices don’t always go down when there’s a lot of competition. Some of the best car-buying tips include the following:
1. Do your homework. Check such sources as the consumer reports website and JD Powers.
2. Shop around for the best loan, but make sure you’re aware that your credit can be dinged for too many inquiries. Before you sign any paperwork, make sure it’s the deal you want. Credit unions, as a whole, offer better deals than banks. Some used car lots are willing to finance their vehicles. Watch the financing costs though.
3. You may also want to consider buying from an original car owner. Kelly Blue Book or Edmunds have listings of what the vehicle should be worth. This can be tricky though if you’re not a decent mechanic. If not, take your mechanic with you or someone who knows what’s under the hood of a car.
