For many, smart cars aren’t such a smart idea. People, naturally, like being in control of things. Smart cars have run over journalists, and have even gotten stuck in reverse. There’s even the rumor that self-driving cars have the ability to spy on people in ways never imagined. These cars are like drones that can collect a world of data on both drivers and the world at large. It doesn’t take a lot of imagination to see where such a reality can lead.
Sure, technology might catch up and produce a vehicle that’s totally reliant on a computer grid. However, that’s a long way off when considering the millions of country roads and highways across America. It’s simply not practical, or desirable. One can only imagine the untold billions of dollars that would have to spend in reorganizing the country’s infrastructure. Sometimes, certain technologies are too far reaching. However, progress never stands still.
