They’re sitting there, collecting dust, at a port outside LA. How did they get there, why are they there, and where are they headed? Perhaps it’s an excellent example of what happens when there’s a downturn in the economy. The reality is that inventories are accumulating across the country.
Manufacturers and dealers try to work together to sell cars. Typically, dealerships buy from manufacturers. Once the car leaves the lot, a manufacture is paid. Then, it’s the dealer’s responsibility to offer incentives to move cars off the lot. But, there’s a gap in the process. If dealers have paid for cars that go unsold, how are they staying in business and continuing to make a profit?
