Meet the Jetsons! These vehicles all had futuristic, weird designs. And they were designed by engineers from well-known companies from around the world. Let’s start with the Ferrari 250 Shooting Brake 1957. That’s totally doable, except for the wood trim. It looks like something you’d find on the streets today.
The Ford X2000, 1958, was way over the top, even in an era that allowed the imagination of engineers to run wild. The Plymouth XNR, 1970, might cause you to pause and take a second look. Toyota’s EX-III concept, 1969, could just be a head-turner, even by today’s standards. There’s an old saying that guides the field of architecture and structural design: “Form follows function.” It seems to resonate even with people that have absolutely no engineering background.
