One Version of the 2006 Chrysler 300 Takes This Module

The 2006 Chrysler 300 SRT-8 6.1L PCM on this page is a refurbished unit built for one car. Four engines went into the 2006 Chrysler 300, and the SRT-8 was the only one to get the 6.1L HEMI. No other version of the 300 takes this module.

Your shop may have called it the engine computer. Parts catalogs list the same component as an ECM, an ECU, or an engine control module. All four labels point at one part on this car, so whichever term you were handed, it is the engine under the hood that settles the order.

Three Different Modules Are Listed for the 2006 Chrysler 300

Four engines, three listings. That split is the first thing to get right, because a 2006 Chrysler 300 PCM replacement is not a single part number across the model.

Model year narrows it further. SRT-8 production ran from 2005 to 2009 and every year has a listing of its own, so a 2005 or a 2007 car orders elsewhere. Those two years do not even share the same identifiers. The other Chrysler 300 model years sit together on one page.

Confirm the engine at the car and check the badge on the decklid. Anything still uncertain is worth a phone call ahead of the order, on the sales number in the header of this page.

Match the Complete Module Label and VIN

A part number alone may be insufficient to identify the right application. Send the complete label, including any suffix, with your VIN and engine details. A shared identifier does not establish that the hardware is interchangeable or that software is the only difference.

So we work from your car rather than from a number by itself. The VIN gives us the engine, the build and the factory calibration yours is supposed to run. Pass us the module number too and the application gets confirmed against two independent inputs.

One 6.1L module, several cars, a separate listing for each. A Dodge owner who arrived here belongs on the 2006 Dodge Charger 6.1L page or the 2006 Dodge Magnum 6.1L page, because each unit is matched to one vehicle.

What Goes Onto Your SRT-8 Module

Nothing is written to your module until payment clears and your VIN reaches us. We load the factory software for your application. The unit then goes on a bench that drives the anti-theft system, the emissions system, the transmission and the engine under load. Our 13-point quality check is the last thing it passes before boxing.

What Car Computer Exchange ships against this listing is a refurbished unit programmed to your VIN before dispatch. An unprogrammed salvage module may need configuration for your car before it can be used.

You or your installer handles removal and fitting. Use the supplied instructions for your SRT-8, and include labor and any required vehicle-level setup in the total cost. VIN programming is separate from key or anti-theft pairing. Check with our team before arranging additional programming, because a reflash by another source voids the warranty.

A Tuned or Modified SRT-8 Changes the Terms

Performance work on your car affects what you are covered for, and a 6.1L SRT-8 is the Chrysler 300 most likely to have had some. Where certain performance work has been done to a vehicle, warranty protection may not apply, and that judgment is ours to make.

Returns are stricter again. Buy this module for an engine swap, or for performance work of that kind, and no refund is available at all. Both conditions are set out in our return policy, which is worth reading first if your car is not stock.

The Core Deadline That Opens Your SRT-8 Warranty

The warranty requires your old unit to be sent within 21 days, in good rebuildable condition, unless a core charge was applied at purchase. Keeping the core instead carries a charge of 50% of the computer's purchase price.

Postage is already handled, and the packaging travels inside the box with your replacement. Let the 21 days run out and the module you are driving on carries no cover at all. One case is exempt: an order billed a core charge up front keeps its cover either way. Every condition is set out on our warranty page.

BUYER BEWARE! NOT ALL COMPUTER SELLERS ARE EQUAL.

CarComputerExchange fully rebuilds and tests ALL computers. We are the ONLY seller that runs each computer through a computer aided vehicle simulator that tests every circuit in the module. Other companies run limited tests.
Most companies run limited tests. Some online stores simply repaint old units and sell without testing. Don't fall for the CHEAPER option.
Our testing & rebuilding process starts with a deep visual evaluation of the circuit board and all the electronic components. From water or acid corrosion, to fire or burn damage, we pay attention to every detail. We also scan the ECU memory or CPU to make sure that it is working properly.
We then test the ECU's with our proprietary electronic lab equipment on our bench, which emulates the car's engine to ensure accuracy in every diagnosis.

Frequently asked questions

Nothing here asks which engine I have. How do you know I need the 6.1L one?

This listing covers one engine, so there is no selector to get wrong. We identify your car from its VIN, which we request once payment clears. We also ask for the number stamped on the unit you are removing. Two separate pieces of evidence then point at the same application, which is a firmer check than either alone.

My SRT-8 is shifting badly. Will this module fix that?

What ships from this page is the engine computer. Transmission control on a 2006 Chrysler 300 lives in its own module, which is a different part and is not included here. Call us about a shift complaint before you buy rather than returning the wrong unit afterwards.

Does VIN programming guarantee my existing keys will work immediately?

No such guarantee is made here. VIN programming is included, but key and anti-theft pairing are separate operations. Follow the supplied instructions for your car. If security setup is required, check with our team before booking it: outside reprogramming voids the warranty. Do not assume a dealer or locksmith visit is either always required or always unnecessary.

A scan tool flagged the PCM. Should I order on that alone?

Not on its own. A stored code names the system reporting a problem. It does not name the cause, and on this car several faults can produce a module-related code while the module itself is fine. Have the fault traced to the unit before you order. Skip that and the replacement may arrive for a part that was never broken.

This module fails in a year. What is covered?

Parts only. Labor, shipping and handling fall to you, including postage on anything sent back under warranty. A claim made after the first 30 days requires the module to come in for inspection before we release a replacement. Two replacement units are covered across your ownership of the car. There is no mileage limit, and the cover ends if the car changes hands.

It did not solve the problem. Can I send it back?

Within 60 days of purchase, yes, once we authorize it. Money goes back to whatever you paid with, less two deductions on a gas module returned rather than sent in for repair: a 25% processing charge and the $50 already spent programming it. Original shipping is not refunded. Damage or malfunction must also be reported within 5 days of delivery; the policy still sets the 60-day purchase-based return window.
