There are a few downsides to the rotary engine. The most common complaints are that it eats gas and burns oil. Rotary engines don’t necessarily produce a lot of torque. They can also be a problem in colder climates. Their engine seals tend to fail. Engine and other parts are also expensive, and somewhat hard to come by.
